Thursday 3rd January

Well it is still the New Year holidays and the celebrations continue here in Tokyo.
Many places in Japan are still closed today so we decided to head out to Shibamata as we headed off the train it was a nice little traditional Japanese town - we even had to cross the rail tracks to get out of the station which was a little bizarre.
We headed out into the streets which were crowded with people celebrating the last day of the holidays praying at the temples and eating various foods in the street including chocolate bannans which we couldnt resist. Although to be fair they were pretty disappointing not as tasty as I had expected.

We wondered around the area in the hustle and bustle for a while checking out the temples and market stalls before heading back on the train for a little train roulette.

The next place we stopped was Machiya where to be fair there was not really a lot to look at so we stopped off for a drink at a cafe before walking to Nishi-Nippori to jump back on the train to head off to our next destination.

Ningyocho was our next stop and this happended to be a nice little town with beautiful street lighting and a nice small temple that we were actually able to get in to look around unlike the ones we have visited in previous days.
