Tuesday 1st January

Didnt get out of bed until 12ish recovering from last nights celebrations and didnt feel too pretty.

Headed out to Asakusa today to the Sensoji temple WOW is all I can say even though I have been to this area many times I have never seen it as busy as it was today. Its the Japanese tradition to go to the temples on New Years Day and pray and the entire area was closed on the strip down to the temple with the police out controlling the crowd - it was incredible to see. Loads of food stalls in the street which I was tempted by and had some lovely noodles for lunch whilst roaming around the crowded area.

We didnt hang around too long as we plan to come back next week hopefully to wander round the area and have a look at the market stalls.

Crowds waiting to pray at the temple

We then headed off to Sudobashi for a wander round in the evening time as its a nice relaxing area and we had a coffee at starbucks and an ice cream at Baskin Robbins for dinner.

Now time for a few beers and relax in preparation for our trip into Tokyo tomorrow - excited!!!!!!
